The White Wolves were a special unit of the Army of the Republika Srpska, part of the Sarajevo-Romania Corps.

History

On February 22, 1993, Srđan Knežević was appointed commander of the newly established assault-reconnaissance detachment of the Sarajevo-Romania Corps of the Army of Republika Srpska. He was wounded on May 16, 1995 in the battles on Debelo Brdo. From February 22, 1993, until the spring of 1996, he remained the commander of the White Wolves. The unit got its name because its members were snowed in during a blizzard on Mount Bjelašnica, which only wolves can survive. The unit included a large number of Russian volunteers, who participated in the war on the side of the Army of Republika Srpska.
