JNA YPA Yugoslav Peoples Army M52 M3 Gaz Mask 1952 – 1960
ATTENTION: Dear Customers, you will receive exactly the same item which you see on the pictures, not similar or other. Please read the description carefully and review the photos.
The M-3’s layout is essentially the exact same as the VZ-35’s layout, since it is a copy of it. The only differences between the two are the lack of stockinette (M-2 still has stockinette) and the design change for the exhale cover and tissot tubes, with the M-3’s exhale cover having large curved slits and no holes and tissot tubes running on the side of the facepiece instead of the middle. The harness is made out of grey stretchable canvas, with the headharness being made out of a material with a rubber padding stitched onto it.
The headharness may have a number, and the number stands for size. Size 1 being small, size 2 being medium, and size 3 being large. The rubber faceblank only has 3 rubber stamps. Them being a size stamp, a “PAZ” stamp, and a star with both terms of the mask. The size stamp is located in-between the two lenses right over the Tissot-tubes. Like the VZ-35, the mask does feature a neck-strap, also made out of grey canvas. It is unknown what PAZ may mean, but mostly speculated to be Protiv-avionska zaštita (Anti-Aircraft defence). Tan M-3s were early production, and the black ones were later production. Olive green/green painted exhale covers and lenses mean that the mask is military issue, and black/grey painted exhale covers and lenses mean civilian issue.
