The Special Police Brigade of the MUP of the Republika Srpska was created in 1992 from Serbs who left the then Special Units of the MUP of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the beginning of April 1992, 34 members of the official governmental Special Unit of the MUP of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of Serbian nationality under the leadership of Milenko Karisik, deputy commander, loyal to the SDS, left the base in Krtelje near Sarajevo, with equipment, weapons and vehicles. They made their first appearance on April 5 in Vrace during the attack on the school of the MUP of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After 6 hours of fighting, they captured the school and captured the professors, students and students of non-Serb nationality, who were later exchanged. The Special Brigade of the MUP was formed from the defected special forces, and Milenko Karišik became the first commander. New members of the unit were recruited on a voluntary basis in the territory under the control of Serbian forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The second commander during the war was General Goran Sarić, who remained in that position until its disbandment in 1998 and its renaming as the Special Unit of the MUP of the Republika Srpska.
