The official name of the country was the "Federal Republic of Yugoslavia", or "FR Yugoslavia" for short. The name Yugoslavia. The Slavic word jug means 'south', while slavija ('Slavia") denotes a 'land of the Slavs'. Thus, a translation of "Jugoslavija" would be 'South-Slavia' or 'South Slav Land'. This is because the initial idea of 'Yugoslavia,' was a state of Southern Slavs which could protect itself from foreign empires. The native name of Yugoslavia remained the same in all South Slavic languages, spoken within the country.
M89 helmet was issued to the "Milicija" MUP troops (Ministry of Internal affairs) of Yugoslavia. Identical design & manufacture as the M89 army version. Blue-nylon liner variation exists as well. Issued in dark blue/green, with red star in front (later covered by Serbian tricolor police insignia).
This helmet was used in Serbia during the 90s.
